Natural and synthetic diamond reaming shells — keep the hole at a constant diameter and stabilize the bit above the core barrel.

Overview

Reaming shells are set with natural or synthetic diamonds and connect the core bit to the core barrel. Their main function is to ream the hole to the correct constant diameter — guaranteeing enough clearance for the core barrel and leaving room to set a new bit — while stabilizing the bit during drilling.
